Colas Rail Italia S.p.A. is the Italian engineering and contracting expert with the capability, skills and proven experience to deliver transport electrification projects nationally and internationally. Thanks to our long and successful history in the rail industry, we are well positioned to understand and meet the needs of a wide variety of rail customers across the entire project life cycle: design, procurement, installation and commissioning and maintenance of turnkey projects for traditional and High Speed railways, mass transit and light rail systems. Our customers include top national and international public and private companies.
The company was formerly the Italian subsidiary of the Swiss Alpiq Group – Transportation division, and had been trading under the name Alpiq EnerTrans S.p.A. Since 1 August 2018 it has been a member of the Colas Rail Group, which now holds a 100% share in the company.
The company is based in Milan and traces its roots back to 1926, when SAE (Società Anonima Elettrificazione) was established, carrying out the first large railway electrification project in Italy: the Bolzano-Brenner line.
Current order book includes both High Speed and main line railway projects and mass transit projects, in Italy and abroad.
Most recent and significant project references include:
- Construction of Italy’s High Speed Rail Network - being one of the leading technology partners of the Consorzio Saturno - including the contract to supply all technological installations on the High Speed Line Milano - Genova;
- Long term contracts for the renewal, upgrade and maintenance of overhead contact lines and substations on Italian railway lines in operation in the north of Italy;
- Contracts for trolley-bus transport systems in Italy for the cities of Verona, Rimini and Pescara as well as the Line C of the Rome Underground.
In Denmark, Colas Rail Italia is contributing to the construction of the new LRT system in the Aarhus area, the second densely populated city of the country.
